They'll Keep Growing and Growing...
That First Pair!
Baby shoes can help set the stage for proper foot development throughout a child's life. Once a baby is standing and starting to take a few steps, he's ready for his first pair of shoes. Prior to that he only needs socks, booties or pre-walking shoes that don't construct the foot. Choose from our wide selection of Pedipeds, Smart Wool and Stride Rite to fit their pre shoe needs. When they are ready for shoes, it's time to bring your baby down for their first shoe fitting. We accommodate wide widths, orthotics and other foot issues.

Indications that your child has out grown their shoes:
- There should always be about a finger's width of room between the longest toe and the end of the shoe when the baby is standing. Don't get shoes any bigger for them to grow into because it may cause them to trip.
- You should be able to squeeze your pinky in between baby's heel and the back of the shoe.
- Watch them walk: Check for heel slippage and make sure that shoes can crease easily at the top and the sides.
- Children grow at different rates, but in general usually outgrow their shoes every 3-4 months. Check the fit and condition of shoes at least once a month. Replace them as soon as the shoes show signs of wear, such as holes or a cracked bottom.
